Come
fly with me in "my world", a world seemingly without limits, without
time, without possessions, let me open your heart and awaken your
soul!
African Flying Safaris was founded by Robin Goodwin in 2004. Robin
has had a 21 year career in travel, and owned her own travel agency
in Las Vegas, Nevada. Robin is also a pilot holding airman ratings
through Multi-engine commercial pilot.
“I traveled to Africa for the first time in 2002 and fell
in love with the land, the beauty, the people, and oh, those animals.
The sunsets took my breath away, and I never missed a glorious sunrise.”
Robin began making educational trips to Africa and on one trip
learned she could hire her own plane and design her own itinerary
to explore this vast and intriguing land. Already impassioned with
the idea of having everyone she met endeavor to one day travel to
Africa, Robin decided to combine her passions of flying and Africa,
her knowledge of travel, and her overall experience into a business
that would let her show others the magic and mystery of Africa –
and with the thrill of doing it in your own airplane!
“I have been asked on so many occasions what it is about
Africa that I am so crazy about. I’ve never been able to find
the words that I feel fully express an answer to this question."
"I have an unexplainable passion about Africa. It has stimulated
in me a love for life and all that lives as well as given me perspective
in the big picture of our existence. The land is simply beautiful.
The people will touch your heart and will forever be your friend,
and they are some of the kindest, most gentle people I have ever
met. The wildlife is, of course, positively amazing. But even with
that to have the opportunity to understand that everything on this
earth has its purpose and to see that purpose in action every day
opens your heart, your mind, your soul. I guess it's a spiritual
experience to those that are spiritual or can be a spiritual experience
to those that have not found that part of their being in life. Whether
Spiritual or not though, one will never forget the experiences they
will have when they visit Africa with African Flying Safaris.”
In a nutshell, Robin Goodwin is a passionate aviator, an experienced
organizer of travel and vacations worldwide, a successful entrepreneur,
knowledgeable and well traveled, and positively CRAZY about Africa!
Flying a light aircraft across the most desolate regions of the
world, would be, to some, quite intimidating. But when you make
your trip with African Flying Safaris, we take the worry away so
you are free to enjoy your vacation, and experience all that we
have prepared for you to enjoy. Since our tours include a guide
pilot, the business of flight planning, phoning ahead, scheduling
and much, much more are taken out of our guests hands so they are
able to spend more time enjoying your tour on the ground as well
as in the air. Your guide will brief you on every aspect of the
tour but will handle all the planning and paperwork so you won’t
have to. Our aircraft are sufficiently equipped and well maintained.
We fly only our own aircraft and aircraft that we are personally
familiar with. All aircraft are inspected thoroughly prior to any
flight by one of our customers. My operations manager in South Africa,
Johann Venter, will ensure each trip participant is provided with
a quality, mechanically sound aircraft. In addition, Johann and
his team will organize your entire flight plan, organize and assist
with your South African Pilot Validation, and provide full time
guide services for your trip. Our full time CFI, Henk van den Berg,
is one of the owners of a respected flight school at Lanseria. He
and Johann personally handle all details of flight planning, pilot
validation, proper equipment, maps, etc. Our guide pilot known as
Young Johan, is young but well heeled in African Aviation.
For safari accommodations, we have partnered with Conservation
Corporation Africa, better known as CC Africa. CC Africa is one
of Africa’s largest lodge management companies and the lodges
under their management account for approximately 98% of our accommodations
while on safari, and when we are not utilizing one of their managed
lodges/camps they are directly involved in the selection and booking
process of accommodations outside of their management portfolio.
CC Africa’s reputation for accommodations, rangers, and guides
is one of the best in all of Africa. We encourage you to investigate
their website at www.ccafrica.com
to gain more insight into their quality facilities and operations.
